Sharing Kid Voices!

This event provides our youth members with an invaluable opportunity to learn from one another, and to network with leading professionals, including industry and clinicians, from around the globe.  In turn, the iCAN Research & Advocacy Summit offers the scientific community an opportunity to engage directly with children and parents, so that they may learn about the value and the importance of the influence of children on research, medicine, and innovation.

Since the inception of iCAN, an annual iCAN Research & Advocacy Summit has been offered to provide young people an opportunity to work with medical professionals, community leaders, scientists, and researchers in medicine, science, health, advocacy, and technology to improve the health and well-being of all children, especially those with chronic conditions and rare diseases.

Important!

As of 2025, with the exception of United States Citizens or Permanent Residents, all international travelers will need either a visa or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to enter Canada. Please refer to the chart and steps below to see which category your country falls under and how to apply for the correct documentation.

For minors traveling with a person other than their parents or legal guardian:

  • The adult who is not the parent or legal guardian of the child should have written permission from the parents or guardians to supervise the child. The permission letter should include addresses and telephone numbers where the parents or legal guardian can be reached.

  • The letter does not need to be certified. A photocopy of the parents’ or legal guardian’s signed passports or national identity cards should be attached to the letter.

Note: The border services officer may not ask to see these documents when the child enters Canada. However, it is strongly recommended you bring them, in case that you are. The minor child will not be admitted to Canada if the officer is not convinced that the parents or legal guardian have authorized their stay.

  • Visa Processing Times

    • The processing times for visa applications posted online are historical, meaning they're measured based on how long it took to process 80% of applications in the past six to eight weeks. As a result, processing times maybe different than those posted online at the time of application submission. Participants are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible ahead of their departure date in order to allow sufficient time for their application to be processed and if approved, subsequent visa issuance in their passport.

  • Steps to Apply

    • If you require a visa, you must apply online through the IRCC Secure Network.

    • How to Apply:

      • Apply for your visitor visa through your IRCC secure account.
